LONDON: Cable Car

pokračuji v oné neděli dávno v minulosti :D

... po Brick Lane jsme se vydaly k lanovce. Chystala jsem se tam už docela dlouho, tak jsem se těšila. Nechtěla jsem totiž platit 20liber za London Eye a navíc tam jsou strašné fronty. Ale zpětně si říkám, že to je stále asi lepší, protože tam člověk vidí ty nejzajímavější budovy. Když jsme dorazily na North Greenwich, odkud lanovka jezdí, tak se spustil pěkný liják a trochu vítr, takže pršelo ze všech stran, ale my jsme se nenechaly odradit a stouply si do fronty. Po cca 5-10minutách k nám přišel nějaký zaměstnanec a začal vysvětlovat, že provoz lanovky je přerušen na dobu neurčitou, protože to vypadá, že bude bouřka a kvůli tomu si nemůžou dovolit to spustit. Někteří lidé to vzdali s tím, že se vrátí později, ale já s Inou jsme viděly modro v dáli a věděly jsme, že bouřka půjde opačným směrem a k nám přijde slunce. A měly jsme pravdu, asi za 10-15minut přestalo pršet, vylezlo sluníčko a lanovka byla opět spuštěna :) jízda byla krátká, má trvat 5-10minut, takže rychlovka, bylo to pěkný, ale vážně toho v okolí tolik zajímavého nebylo, tak jsem byla mírně zklamaná. Poté jsme se potřebovaly dostat na stanici metra a díky olympijským hrám byly všude cedule a dobrovolníci, kteří nám ochotně radili, tak to bylo super :)

Chtěla bych ještě něco krátce dodat k atmosféře v Londýně během olympijských her. Trochu jsem se bála, že Londýn bude nechutně nacpaný lidmi a možná teda byl. Já jsem to tady v Ealingu nevnímala. Vnímala jsem to jen v metru, které bylo hodně plné. Ale atmosféra byla velice přátelská a milá. Dobrovolníci a policie na každém rohu byli ochotni pomoci či poradit. Lidé byli v rámci možností přátelští a družní :)

když jsme jely na lanovku, tak se nás nějaký pán v metru začal ptát, jestli jede správným směrem, že se chce dostat tam a tam. Tak jsme mu radily. Pak se nás ptal, odkud jsme a říkal, že je z Portorica. Tak jsem pak na něj začala mluvit trochu španělsky, museli jsme vystoupit z metra, protože tam končilo a i když jsme mu nedokázaly plně přesně poradit, kam má jí dál, tak nám dal každé odznáček z Portorica. To mi přišlo jako skvělý nápad. A úžasný, jak takový fanda přiletěl takovou dálku kvůli olmypijským hrám.

další zážitek jsme měly po cestě zpět domů, když jsme nastoupily už dost unavené do nacpaného metra, tak jsme se chytly tyče, abychom za jízdy nepadaly, a najednou si začali nějací sympatičtí chlapíci stoupat a pouštět nás, ať si dámy jdou sednout :) tak jsme si sedly a zjistili jsme, že to je islandský olympijský tým, který byl okolo nás a tak jsme se s nimi začali trochu bavit, byl to nějaký kapitán týmu, který nás pustil sednout, byl dokonce na zahajovací ceremonii, a byli moc přátelští a v dobré náladě :) to se jen tak nestane každý den, aby vás členové olympijského týmu pustili sednout :) vážně, atmosféra tu byla pěkná :)

... after Brick Lane Ina and I went to the cable car. I was planning to go there already a long time so I was looking forward to it. I didn't want to pay 20pounds for London Eye and I also didn't want to stand in that long queue. But now I think that it's probably worh it because at least one can see that famous spots from up there. Anyway when we arrived to North Greenwich where the cable car is, it started raining and it was really windy which caused that even with umbrella, one was really wet. But we went to stand in the queue for the cable car. After cca 5-10 minutes waiting there, a guy from Emirates (they own the cable car) came to us and started explaining that the cable car was stopped at the moment due to the weather and it also seemed that the storm was coming so he couldn't tell us how long would we wait. Thanks to it some people gave up and left. But we noticed the blue sky not so far from us so we knew that if the storm came it wouldn't be there. And we were right in about 10-15 minutes stopped raining, the sun came out and the cable car started going again :) the journey was really short. It's supposed to long 5-10 minutes so it's really quick. It was nice but there was nothing that interesting to look at there so I was a bit disappointed. After arriving to the other side of river we needed to find a tube station and thanks to the Olympic Games it was quite easy as there were signs leading us there and also volunteers ready to help :) so that was nice :)

I would like to add something about the atmosphere in London during the Olympic Games. I was quite affraid that London would be terribly packed by loads of people and yes, it might have been. But I didn't even notice here in Ealing. I just noticed that the tube was really full. But the atmosphere was really nice and friendly. The volunteers and police were always ready and happy to gelp. People were friendly and sociable :)
on the way to the cable car one man in the tube started asking us for the directions to sme station and whether he was going in the right tube. We tried to help him although we weren't completely sure. He asked us where were we from and told us that he was from Puerto Rico. So then I talked to him for a while in spanish we had to get off the train because it was the terminal station and even though we couldn't really help him he gave us each one small badge from Puerto Rico and said goodbye. That was really nice and a great idea. I will remember him thanks to that. It's also amazing that such a fan goes all the way from Puerto Rico to London to see Olympic Games. I wonder how long was he saving money for that. He didn't seem very rich.
another experience happened also on the tube. We got there already really tired and happy to go home and it was absolutely packed. We found some space and handle to hold when some guys stood up and told us, ladies, to sit on their seats :) so we sat and were really grateful. Then we found out that there guys were from Icelandic olympic team (they had uniforms) so we started talking to them and one of them was a team leader, the another was coach and then there were other guys. Some of them had been even in the opening ceremony and they were really friendly and in a good mood :) so that was fun, it just doesn't happen every day to meet Icelandic olympic team and have them let us sit down :) really, the atmosphere was nice :)
